Embracing Duality: The Story Behind Infusion Candle Co.

This month, we honor the stories that shaped us.

I started Infusion Candle Co. in April 2020 not just to make candles, but to reconnect.
To my roots.
To the rituals I grew up with.
To the experience of being a South Asian American woman in Chicago, raised between two cultures that often felt worlds apart.

Growing up, I often felt caught in between, navigating my identity while learning how to embrace both tradition and individuality. Some days, I longed for the comfort of my family’s rituals. Other days, I wanted space to define my own rhythm.

A South Asian woman in a red sari and a South Asian American woman in modern clothing stand back-to-back around a tree, reaching for each other’s hands—symbolizing cultural duality, heritage, and identity.

Infusion Candle Co. is my way of celebrating that duality.

Each candle is inspired by something deeply personal, scents that evoke comfort, memory, and cultural connection. From the boldness of chai to the softness of sandalwood and rose, every fragrance is a tribute to moments that shaped me.

But this brand isn’t just about me.

It’s for anyone who feels like they’re living in the in-between. Anyone who’s ever asked, “Do I have to choose?”
Spoiler: You don’t.

Infusion is here to remind you that you can belong to more than one place at once. That your identity, your rituals, and your story are worthy of celebration.

This AAPI Heritage Month, I’m proud to share a piece of that journey and to invite you to reflect on your own, because scent has the power to ground us, to guide us home, and to reconnect us with who we are.

Thank you for being here. Thank you for lighting a little piece of that story with me.

Light with love,
Palak
